Frequently Asked Questions

  • Kitchen appliances include a refrigerator (with an icemaker in the freezer), dishwasher, electric glass-top range, microwave, and garbage disposal. Small appliances include a coffee pot, coffee grinder, juicer, blender, and crock pot. Kitchen tools include dishware, glassware, knives, eating and cooking utensils, bakeware, and a salad spinner. The pantry includes basics like cooking oil, flour/sugar, spices, etc. We ask that you restock if you use the last of something.

    We have a propane grill (propane included) on the deck and an additional overflow refrigerator in the ground floor workshop area.

  • Sheets, blankets, bedding, pillows, bath towels and beach towels are included.

    Toilet paper and paper towels are provided.

  • While we are dog owners and pet lovers, we do not permit guests to bring pets.

  • Check-in time: 11am

    Check-out time: Noon

    You will be given a door code prior to check-in that works on the main upstairs front door.

  • We have Starlink satellite internet at approximately 150 mbs, but it can be impacted by rain or other obstructions.

    Cell service varies by carrier and can be spotty.

    There is one TV in the downstairs rec room which has an Apple TV with streaming services. Live over-air-broadcast is not available and the availability of sports or live TV content is not guaranteed. You may log into your own streaming accounts using the AppleTV or cast to the TV.

    We also have a large collection of DVDs including family-friendly selections.

    There is a stereo upstairs connected with FM/AM and connected to music streaming options via an AppleTV.

    We do not have a phone land line.

  • A Pack N Play is in the downstairs bedroom closet.

    There are several toys and games available.

    However, the house has NOT been childproofed (cabinet locks, outlet covers).

  • There is room for up to 4 vehicles, depending on their size. Two vehicles can park under the carport and two others to the side of the storage shed.

    The driveway is paved but is also steep and does may not accommodate large trucks or delivery vehicles.

    • Bed Linens - remove any used sheets and pile on the floor

    • Towels - pile towels on the floor

    • Trash - bag all trash and place in the roller bin in the downstairs workshop area

    • Recycling - if you recycle, please take recycling with you

    • Dishwasher - load and start the dishwasher

  • Lake Sheila is a private members-only lake for approximately 90 property owners. Use of the lake is for members and their guests only and is not public-access.

    You may be asked by a member what property you are staying. Be sure to say you are “guests of the Gandy/Hollinger house at 986 Haven.”

    There is very limited parking at the beach.

    Watercraft on the boat racks are privately owned and not for shared use.

    You may use the green Old Town Canoe (permit 0149) and the blue paddle board in the rack labeled “Gandy".”

    Please follow guidance and signage at the lake:

    • No glass containers

    • No alcohol

    • No smoking

    • No motorized craft on the water

    • Take everything with you when you leave

    • Close the table umbrellas when you leave

  • The ground floor, basement-level workshop is stocked with badminton, corn-hole, bocce, various balls, and floats and pool noodles for the lake.

    We have a fire pit outside and firewood under the carport and lots of flat yard space behind for yard games.

  • We have tons of puzzles, cards, and board games for all ages.

    The rec room includes a TV with AppleTV, pool table, ping pong top, mini basketball hoop, and a selection of toys for the kids.
